cat tree

What a novel idea, a tree of cats. However, they can be quite expensive and needlessly large. I don’t doubt that your cat deserves it, but if they don’t use it, you just end up with some large piece of odd decor. Often, these cat trees are wide, with a space to hide, a ball of fluff dangling to play with, and multiple levels for climbing. None of these would fit in the space currently occupied by that one large amazon box. All of the small designs didn’t suit my fancy either. Thus…

I decided to design my own cat tree.

There are many reasons why this is a good idea.
1. It will take up the perfect amount of space (because you can design it for the space).
2. You can pick the material: wood smells good, no carpet no stain.
3. You can add whatever you want to it! (Provided you can also build it/find someone to build it).

For my cat tree design, I made a type of staircase for the cats to climb up to the highest level. The entire thing is 16″x14″x32″. Not only does it appeal to cats, it also is great as a place to sit or a fancy shoe rack.
Once built, it is entirely customizable. You can attach some carpet padding if that’s what you prefer. I personally added some rope wrapped around the long pillars for a better scratching experience.

Thanks Colin.

Overall, the design came out great and the cats like it a lot. Shout out to my carpenter friend Colin for actually putting it all together and bringing my vision to life.

Cats for reference.
